So.., How do you know you’re hiring the right company? I mean it’s tricky right? What do you look for? What are your expectations? Honestly it’s hard. I’ll tell you what, as much as I’m good at what I do, I’m not everyone’s ideal match.
If you have a wildlife problem, you should hire a Nuisance Wildlife Control Operator (NWCO) and not a “Pest Control” or “Exterminator” company. They’ll come out with sprays and bait, do the same thing at every house for every problem -but not fix the source of the problem. This is great for ants and bugs and bees, but wildlife is different.
With wildlife removal, every house, and every problem and critter is different. I mean sure there are some similarities, but if you have bats there may be 11 different spots they are getting in. And if you find one or ten spots but not the eleventh – that means you still have bats!
If it’s squirrels you have: not removing every squirrel that has made your house his home means that next fall, you will have a problem. We fix the whole problem.
The other reason to hire a NWCO as opposed to a pesticide applicator is we often times will be back every day until your problem is solved.
The field of Nuisance wildlife doesn’t have very many people that successfully carry it out as a sole business. Because to be successful you have to be great at what you do. Honestly it’s a specialty. Kind of like a guy who installs slate roofs. It’s not your average asphalt shingle roofer that’s for sure. So how do you know? Well… Can they give you options as to how to get rid of the problem? Are they fair price wise? By that I mean They aren’t the cheapest, but there prices are fair and there willing to do that little extra like fill in a woodchuck hole just because. Are they full service? Can they remove the animals, seal and exclude, and clean up and disinfect? Do they follow protocols so you’re not exposed to pathogens? We’re out there.
Lastly is he/she mobile? Can they fit in your attic, crawl under your porch. If they can’t how are they getting where the problem is. Please don’t hire a company that doesn’t bring a ladder to an inspection or dosen’t do an inspection before quoting your bat job.
Honestly I’m not the only professional and sometimes that’s OK. I warrant a look. I warranty some of my work actually. Why? Because I know what to do. Lastly please don’t hire a redneck. They make good friends, but they don’t often take there shoes off at the door, or aren’t sympathetic when you don’t want to see a dead squirrel hanging out of the back of their truck.
