Wildlife Prevention and Winter
We spend a lot of time when talking about bats in peoples homes speaking of large quantities of bats 30-200 bats in someones attic. What often gets overlooked and never acknowledged is the bachelor pads. Sometimes your home or business doesn’t have that big of a problem. That’s not to say you haven’t had bat problems, or that you don’t have an established issue. It’s more to say having a bat or two doesn’t mean the problem is so substantial you need to break the bank to get rid of it. I’ve completed several bat exclusions in the Rochester NY area in the last couple months and most of them have been Maternal colonies. However one place in particular had a bat problem, but not a large quantity. What they had was a few young males that had established themselves their and would frequent there living quarters. They needed the home excluded because they had unwelcome encounters with the bats. However it wasn’t a huge job really. Not having a monumental problem and not having a maternal colony allows us to exclude any time of year. You see right now mother bat is nursing her babies and there is no real was to exclude until August.
So often in the animal kingdom the males are off on their own. The strongest males survive and offer their genes to advance the species. If bats are creating problems for you please give us a call.
